Junior Performance Company:
Team Building & Collaboration
Mission: The mission of Grace Center for Movement’s Junior Company is to provide increased performance opportunities for younger dancers looking to grow as artists, performers, and people. This team will provide opportunities for dancers to deepen their teamwork and collaboration skills while sharing joy in their studio & community through the vessel of dance.
As A Member of GCPC, a dancer will:

Have increased opportunities for performance in the Community

Attend Monthly Team building workshops to encourage team unification, creativity, and joy

Attend a team photo shoot
-
Have access to guest artists and opportunities for higher continuing education
-
Gain tools that can be used towards self-empowerment, positive mental & physical health, and in becoming a strong team player

Have an opportunity to develop stronger friendships and a support team through dance
Requirements of becoming a member of GCPC

A positive attitude: Members must hold themselves to a high standard of grace and social interaction in person, both in the studio & out, and through social media.

Strong work ethic: Members will be learning multiple pieces in short amounts of time with a variety of teaching artists. It is imperative that members are at rehearsals, on time, warmed up, and ready to work. When challenges arise members will need the perseverance to work through them to get to their end goal.

Commitment & Attendance: 80% attendance across All classes, not just company rehearsals, will be required of members. This includes participating in summer classes of your performing genre and a technique class. This program is designed for serious dancers who are looking for commitment and growth. Extra curricular activities and sports are not considered excused absence from class.

Community Service: all members of GCPC will be required to participate in one community service event with their team. This event will be planned as a group and offers a chance to give back to our community.

GCPC Contract: Members will be required to sign the contract that is included in this packet and adhere to its values

A passion for dance: This team is designed for dancers who love to dance and who wish to commit to use dance to grow as artists, teammates and people
To Apply to become a member of the Junior GCPC dancers will need to:

Write a short essay depicting how GCPC will benefit your dance journey and the special qualities that you will bring to the team. Please list 2 specific strengths & 2 specific weaknesses. Essays may be sent to gracecenterfm@gmail.com

Be dancing at a minimum of level 2 for one year or more

Dancers who are new to the studio will be asked to submit a 30 second video of themselves dancing in their preferred genre to demonstrate quality of movement and technical ability. Videos may be sent to gracecenterfm@gmail.com

Costumes ( we will rent costumes instead of purchase when possible and utilize re-usable dancewear)
$31.00/ month for 9 months: ( $279.00 year)
covers costume rentals, weekly rehearsals & monthly workshops, 1 guest choreographer & photo shoot. Does not cover travel expenses should we choose to travel, admittance into outside workshops/ events, or the price of a new costume if we need to purchase one beyond rentals

Leadership
Mission: The mission of Grace Center for Movement’s Senior Company is to provide increased performance opportunities for dancers looking to grow as artists, performers, and people. This team will seek to develop leadership and mentorship skills, through the vessel of dance, in the studio and in the community.
As A Member of GCPC, a dancer will:

Have increased opportunities for performance in the Community, State, & New England

Attend Monthly Team building workshops to encourage team unification, creativity, and joy

Receive professional headshots
-
Have access to guest artists and opportunities for higher continuing education
-
Gain tools that can be used towards self-empowerment, positive mental & physical health, and in becoming a role model
-
Be a performing member of a minimum of 2-5 repertory pieces that will be performed throughout the season
-
Seniors will have the opportunity to apply for a local scholarship showcase and will have guided mentorship for the talent portion.

Serve as a role model in the studio and community
Requirements of becoming a member of GCPC

June 12- Contemporary- Dancers will perform as guests at Spark Inclusive Arts Year end showcase in Topsham Maine

August 22- Balloon Fest: Parade & Performances * Canceled*
(Since this was just canceled we will be looking into the art walks for all performing genres: Contemporary, Ballet, Jazz, Tap & Hip Hop)

September 6 & 7- Tap & Jazz: Dancers will perform in “The Best of Broadway” at the Franco Center. Rehearsals will start in July and dancers will rehearse with the theater the last two weeks of August

October (end of the month, exact date TBD): Jazz: Dancers will perform at Lost Valley;s Halloween Celebration

November 23 Team Building: “Friendsgiving” 2-6pm at the studio
